Commissioned by the Director General of the Regie Libanaise Des Tabacs Et Tombacs (Regie) Engineer Nassif Seklaoui, Leaf Tobacco Manager Mawla Abed El Mawla
delivered a financial contribution to the President of Al Houla Organization, Mr. Mahmud Al Jomaa.
The contribution is for the implementation of a project inside
Burj Al Shemali camp.
Consequently, Al Jomaa expressed his gratitude Regie for contribution to the development of deprived areas.
"nothing but a minimal part compared to the large step of the municipality and resident of Yamouneh."
Seklaoui recalled the visit of Imam Moussa al-Sadr to the town, saying: "I also bear in my mind the memory of that Imam, Imam al-Sadr, who had come from the farthest corner of the city running, and then launched the slogan of preventing partition."
He added: "We at the Regie, have built through your trust and the trust of good people like you throughout our country, an experience that has proven to everyone that public administrations can be capable and productive, especially if they have the will and seek to implement the concepts of modern management."
He continued: "We do not agree on stopping contributions to the implementation of projects that improve people's conditions," recalling that "more than 260 development projects have been implemented with funding from the Regie in Akkar, the Bekaa and the South". He wondered: "Why to deprive these regions from such projects at a time when the state does not offer an alternative?"
Seklaoui appealed to "the sponsor of development and potentials, His Excellency Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, to amend Article 32 of the 2020 budget law so that public administrations with financial profits are again allowed to allocate a small part of their profits to support municipalities."
Seklaoui concluded: "we have taken an unprecedented decision with the Minister of Finance, which is to buy crops in fresh dollar" in an effort to protect farmers' entitlements in light of the fluctuation of the dollar exchange rate and the depreciation of the Lebanese Lira.
