The Regie held its annual senior staff meeting, which lasted for two days, in Park Hotel, Shtoura, in cooperation with Institut des Finances Basil Fuleihan.
During the meeting the Regie’s President and General Manager Nassif Seklaoui, Eng. announced that the sustainable development plan will be launched on March 22nd of this year. Along with Seklaoui, the meeting was attained by the member of the administration committee Mr. Mazen Abboud, as well as directors and Head of departments at the Regie.
Seklaoui took the floor and underlined that the meeting is becoming day after day “part of the culture” which is lead by “the Regie”, since entering upon a cooperation agreement with IFBF, indicating that the meeting intends to enhance communication between the Regie’s officials away from the daily routine, “which enhances the team work spirit”.
In his turn, Eng. Seklaoui thanked Mr. Khalil for “assigning a clause in the general budget in order to support sustainable development projects that the RLTT executes all over the country”, hoping for this clause “to become permanent in the general budget notwithstanding personal views of future ministers of finance.”
Seklaoui enumerated the RLTT’s 33 accomplishments and projects, especially those directly related to farmers; such as wells, reservoirs, irrigation ponds, and libraries for children within the municipalities’ halls, as well as agricultural roads, agricultural guidance centers, water canals, and nature reserves.
Fakih considered that “today is a cheerful day for tobacco farmers on national level; this project is one among a series of developmental projects that takes place on Southern soil, since water is a pivot for locals to stand in their land”, indicating that soon a sum of 100.000 USD will be distributed over the children of tobacco farmers in Bnt-Jbeil.
Finally, the chief of municipality offered a shield to G.M. Seklaoui in appreciation for the efforts he pays in order to develop the village. Then participants unveiled a memorial plaque holding the project’s name. Afterward a cocktail reception was held for the occasion.
