The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Régie Libanaise des Tabacs & Tombacs (Regie), Engineer Nassif Seklaoui assured on Thursday that Regie has become the most important establishment for the production of tobacco in the Arab world and is now on top of the regional map for exporting tobacco; emphasizing that it has become a special example for the Lebanese production.
During an event held at the Coral Beach hotel in the presence of Eng. Georges Hobeika, Dr. Issam Salman and Eng. Mazen Abboud and representatives of the guardianship authority to honor retiring employees, Eng. Seklaoui expressed gratitude to all Regie employees who work hard for the success of this establishment.
“You worked hard and we’ve all achieved; you gave and we’ve all gained,” adding that it’s not easy to reach these points of success in light of the circumstances that the country has been going through over the past 40 years.
In this regard, Eng. Seklaoui said: “It wasn’t easy to work as one family in light of the tough situation in the country and making this establishment one of the most successful in the public sector and the most important establishment in the field of tobacco production in the Arab world.”
“The security, economic, political and social circumstances in the country were rough but we were able to start manufauld also "reduce losses during the production phase and prevent potential work accidents and occupational diseases."
The Regie’s President, Engineer Nassif Seklaoui, said in a speech on the occasion that: "in Lebanon, actions are taken after the problem had occurred. What we try to do is to anticipate the problem and take all measures that prevent its occurrence."
