Under the auspices and in the presence of the President – General Director of the Regie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs (RLTT), Eng. Nassif Seklaoui, the Municipality of Froun in the district of Bint Jbeil has inaugurated the water pond and park of the town’s martyrs, a project financed by the British American Tobacco.
The opening ceremony was attended by presidents of municipalities and mayors from Froun and the neighbouring towns, social and syndicate figures, along with Eng. Abdul Mawla Al Mawla, Head of the Leaf Department and Eng. Jaafar Husseini, Head of agriculture and procurement at the Regie, the representative of the French forces commander in the UNIFIL, as well as a delegation from the British American Tobacco.
The President of Froun Municipality, Mr. Hayek Hayek thanked the BAT for the financing and the administration of the Regie for their contribution in this project, highlighting the vital role it shall play in developing the town, supporting the farmers and improving their living.
From his end, Seklaoui commended the Municipal Council for their role, and described Froun as the land of dignity and resistance, given that it has offered to the country 25 martyrs and dozens of detainees. “Froun is a town of sacrifice and loyalty, he said, and whatever our contributions are, they remain very little compared to its great sacrifices. It is also one of the towns producingflects the Regie’s approach and vision, as well as its decisive position and firm principles”. He added that the current represents “one of a series of steps and projects; some of them was executed and other still waiting. As well, it expresses a global vision of a nationwide successful administration, whose latest achievement was being awarded the ISO certification; the first public facility to achieve such milestone.”
Later, a documentary was showed, reviewing the execution phases, then Mr. Seklaoui cut the ribbon and inaugurated the plant with a walk in the place, accompanied by the attendees.
