The Regie’s President and Director General Eng. Nassif Seklaoui declared on Tuesday that the Regie’s production has increased during the current year “by 30%; from 8 billion to 11 billion cigarettes yearly”, and that the products of national industry “occupied the first place" of total sales, revealing that the Regie "maintained financial balance" and "continued to fulfill its obligations towards the Treasury" and realize achievements.
Seklaoui's declarations were made during a meeting at the Regie’s Headquarters in Hadath with employees and workers on the occasion of Labor Day, which was the first since Covid-19 pandemic two years ago.
The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Directors; Engineers George Hobeika, Dr. Essam Salman, Mazen Abboud; Government Commissioner Mirna Baz; and Financial Controller Carol Youssef.
Seklaoui gave a speech in which he described the workers of the Regie as "its steadfast face, who work without interruption, and who are strong despite all challenges... and in the face of all challenges."
He added: "Our meeting on Labor Day, after two years of crises, obstacles, and difficulties, is the biggest evidence that our institution is one of work and continuity, because the success of institutions is measured in times of crises more than in times of prosperity."
