The Regie has carried forward the purchase of tobacco harvest from farmers in its centers in Al-Dhahaira, Ramia, Bint Jbeil, and Seddiqine.
The representative of tobacco farmers in Ras Al-Ain area, Mr. Hamza Issa has said that the “50% increase on last year’s prices encourages farmers to pursue their activity in farming and attachment to their land, and supports them under the tough economic situation that hits the whole nation.”
In the name of tobacco farmers, Hamza has thanked the Regie’s Director General Eng. Nassif Seklauoi and the Regie itself for their “initiative in increasing prices for tobacco farmers, which may encourage them and keep them attached to their land, especially those in border villages who had suffered in the past and still suffer from the practices of the Israeli enemy against their farms.”
“The farmer and his tobacco seedling are the frontline defenders against the enemy”, Hamza said, requesting the Ministry of Agriculture to provide the farmer with sufficient support to carry forward his farming and resilience.”
He has stressed that “farmers have respected health preventive measures when entering delivery centers.”
